We pulled Florida’s own public licensing records (DBPR) for every Certified Roofing Contractor tied to a Brevard County address over the last ten years. The result: 41 Brevard roofing companies that were licensed and doing business here have since gone Null and Void, been Revoked, or been Suspended — gone, in other words, from the list of contractors legally allowed to operate.
Every one of those companies once stood in front of a homeowner and made the same promises every roofer makes. Some of them installed hundreds of roofs. A workmanship guarantee is only as good as the company behind it — and when that company is gone, so is whoever was supposed to honor it. The shingle or metal manufacturer’s material warranty may still be valid, but there is no longer anyone required to show up and fix their own labor.
This is not a scare tactic. It is public record, and it is exactly the kind of thing a ten-second search should be able to answer before you sign anything.

Homeowners paid a Palm Bay-area roofing company in full for storm-damage roofs that were never installed. The BBB revoked its accreditation and the owner filed for bankruptcy. (WFTV, June 2026)

Search the company’s name at myfloridalicense.com, Florida’s official contractor license lookup. It shows whether the license is Current/Active, and if not, the status (Null and Void, Revoked, or Suspended) and the date it lapsed. It’s free and takes less than a minute.
The shingle or metal manufacturer’s material warranty is usually tied to the product and can still be valid. What’s gone is the workmanship warranty — the promise that the company who installed it will come back and fix their own labor. With no company left, there is no one required to honor that half of the promise.
