Atlas · What every Hippo shingle roof is built on
Every new Hippo shingle roof is an Atlas roof. We sell the complete system, never the shingle on its own. Our HippoShield™ is built on Atlas Pinnacle® Sun, with 3M™ cool-roof granules and lifetime Scotchgard™ protection against the black algae streaks that stain Florida roofs; our HippoClassic™ steps down to Atlas Pinnacle® Pristine and keeps the Scotchgard™. On both, the lifetime algae coverage exists only because we install the matching Scotchgard™ hip and ridge cap with the Scotchgard™ shingle, every time. Atlas requires it, so we never treat it as an upgrade. The full system matters as much as the shingle: qualifying HippoShield™ installations are registered for the Atlas Signature Select® PRO 50 warranty, 50 years of non-prorated manufacturer labor and materials during the Premium Protection Period when all Atlas requirements are met. Hippo has installed TAMKO Titan XT and Heritage roofs across Brevard for years, and we keep our Platinum certification so we can service, repair and match them properly. New Hippo shingle roofs are Atlas.
Metal
Tri County Metals and RPS Metal Roofing
Our metal panels come from two Florida manufacturers, Tri County Metals and RPS Metal Roofing, both of which certify Hippo as an installer. We offer exposed-fastener panels (our DefenderRoof system, the one behind METAL ROOF SAME PRICE AS SHINGLES®) and standing seam. Panels are available in Galvalume steel (the panel behind METAL ROOF SAME PRICE AS SHINGLES®) and in aluminum as an upgrade; near the ocean and the lagoon the Galvalume finish warranty carries a salt-water exclusion, which is when homeowners consider aluminum. Hippo is a Certified Metal Roofing Contractor and a member of the Metal Roofing Alliance.
Tile
Concrete and clay tile
Flat, low-profile and barrel tile in concrete and clay. On a tile roof the underlayment does the waterproofing, so we put as much care into what goes under the tile as the tile itself. See our tile roofing page for how replacement, lift-and-relay and repair work.
Flat and low-slope
CertainTeed Flintlastic SA modified bitumen
For flat roofs, porches and commercial buildings we install a two-ply SBS modified bitumen system with a granulated cap sheet, self-adhered so there is no torch or open flame on your building. Where the roof needs help draining we add tapered insulation, because a flat roof that ponds is a flat roof that fails. More on our commercial roofing page.
Underlayment and the secondary water barrier
Synthetic underlayment and self-adhered membrane
Every Hippo re-roof gets a code-compliant secondary water barrier, and we upgrade to a fully self-adhered deck when the roof or the homeowner calls for it. Peel-and-stick membrane goes in valleys and at eaves and penetrations as standard. This is the layer that keeps a home dry when a storm lifts a shingle, and it is required on every replacement in Florida.
Skylights, solar attic fans and siding
SkyFlex skylights and solar attic fans
We install SkyFlex skylights, sun tunnels and solar-powered attic fans, made in Port Orange, Florida. A hot attic shortens the life of a roof and raises cooling bills; a solar fan runs on sunlight and needs no wiring. Hippo is a SkyFlex certified contractor.
Norandex vinyl siding, soffit and fascia
When the job includes exterior work we install Norandex solid vinyl siding along with aluminum soffit and fascia, so the whole roofline is finished by one licensed crew.

Frequently asked questions
Why does the contractor’s manufacturer status matter to me?
Manufacturers offer their strongest system warranties only through contractors they have certified, and they hold those contractors to installation standards. Hippo’s TAMKO and Atlas standing means the manufacturer-backed options available on your roof are wider than a non-certified installer can offer. We share the specific options with you at your roof visit.
Steel or aluminum for a metal roof?
Both are excellent. The deciding factor in Brevard is salt. Close to the ocean or the lagoon, Galvalume steel still goes on all the time; its finish warranty carries a salt-water exclusion there, so aluminum is available as an upgrade if you want that coverage. Further inland, Galvalume steel is a proven, economical choice.
Do you install a secondary water barrier?
Yes, on every re-roof. Florida law requires a sealed roof deck or secondary water barrier when a roof is replaced, and it is one of the best things that has happened to Florida roofs. We share with you which underlayment system goes on your roof and why.
Can I pick the color?
Absolutely. Shingles, metal and tile all come in a range of colors, and we bring samples to the roof visit. We record the color on your file so a future repair matches.
